When habits or behaviours such as drug taking, drinking or gambling dominate daily life and people find themselves powerless to stop the chaos despite many promises to do so, then it is very likely that they have an active addiction. Addictions can be formed to any activity or behaviour which allows people to escape from life and its problems and includes shopping, spending, sexual activities, gambling., food, prescribed and illegal drugs and alcohol. There is a growing problem in drug and alcohol abuse amongst younger people. Fortunately, it is a highly treatable condition and I can help with the required treatment.

Almost all of us will have taken a mood-altering chemical at some time or another - i.e. what we call a drug. We've drunk tea or coffee, or had a few glasses of beer or wine. These are socially acceptable practices in terms of their health and social consequences.
However, some of us have and continue to abuse alcohol. Some have smoked cannabis, taken amphetamines, ecstasy, heroin or cocaine. We know this is dangerous, yet we still choose to do this, so why do we do it?

Some of the reasons are:

● To help us relax

● To fit in with our peer group

● Because we are bored

● To fit in with a specific group

● To forget about our problems

● To feel relaxed

 To feel more confident

All the reasons for our substance abuse are about changing the way we feel. They're about avoiding lonliness or boredom, giving us a feeling of power and self confidence, a sense of belonging to a particular group, feeling relaxed, feeling "good" etc.

Of course once the "high" of alcohol or drugs has gone the old feelings we strive to forget are still there, and usually worse, so the whole using process starts again and takes us further down.

If you really want to stop using alcohol or drugs we have a solution - WE CAN HELP YOU.
